Review: USBFever WIFI Transmitter

Posted on September 13, 2009 at 9:00 PM

Wireless internet is so much better than normal wired internet. I say that with reasons to support my opinion.

  1. Portability- With wireless internet, you can move your computer anywhere you want, and still be connected to the internet. This is great especially for notebook users.
  2. No wires- No one likes wires. They make a huge mess, and don't look nice. Not to mention they limit your portability. Wireless internet fixes that by not using any wires. Get it, "wireless?"
  3. Many users at once- Wireless internet lets you have many people connected to the internet at the same time. Something which wired internet can't do.

A problem with wireless internet though, is that you must have wireless network card inside your computer in order to connect to a wireless network. While this is almost a standard on notebooks, many desktops still don't have that sort of functionality.

Be assured, there is still a way to make your desktop connect to wireless network using the USBFever USB WIFI transmitter. Here are some features and specs from their website.

- For Windows® XP SP2 and Windows® Vista 32bit

Package Contents:

- USB Wifi Transmitter x 1

- Driver CD x 1

Packaging:

- Box

Note:

- Technical difficulties of installation: medium

The package includes the transmitter, and the drivers disk. The transmitter is very small, and black in color. At the top of it, there are the words WIFI LINK written on it, and at the bottom, there are some specs on the product. I found that when the transmitter is plugged into a computer, a green LED lights up. When the transmitter is in use, the LED flashes green.

The drivers disk which is included came protected in a paper sleeve to protect it from scratches. Installing the drivers was a very simple task to do. You simply click next when it asks you to, and wait for it to install on its own. After it is done, I found that the transmitter worked without any flaws.

I tested this product using speedtest.net. My results were fairly good here they are:

Download speed: 2.28 MB/s

Upload speed: 0.76 MB/s

Ping: 22ms

This product could really help many people out in connecting to wireless networks.

Other pros on it include that it is very cheap,is easy to use, and performs fairly well. Overall it is a Top-Notch product.
